Welcome to the website of the STENTORIANS of Los Angeles County, the Association of African Americans at the County of Los Angeles Fire Department!
In 1954, our founders worked diligently to unite Black/African American fire fighters in response to social and economic injustices against minority fire fighters.
As a result the STENTORIANS was established and later a second chapter, the STENTORIANS of LA County was formed. Our Founders stepped out on a leap of faith to take a stand for social justice and “kept the fire burning for justice” as David J. Floyd puts it. David J. Floyd was the founding president of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters.
We welcome you to explore our website as we proudly share who we are and the values for which we stand. Our website is intended to support the needs of our members, their families, and the communities we serve by providing the basic tools and resources needed to succeed.
